Reasons for your objection
As the vehicle owner, you are responsible for paying tolls even if someone else was driving your vehicle.
Reasons you may want to dispute the notice include:
- you had no choice but to travel on the toll road because of road works
- the charges are not correct
- the trip has already been paid
- your vehicle did not travel on the toll road.
Nominating another driver is not a valid reason for an objection unless the vehicle was stolen or there are special circumstances.
How to lodge an objection
If you receive a toll payment demand and you want to dispute it, you can lodge an objection
Sending by post
If you’re sending an objection by post, send it at least 7 days before the due date on the toll payment demand to avoid extra fees.
If you were not the driver
From July 2026 you cannot nominate another driver to pay the toll for you. You must pay the toll. If you have a valid reason, you can dispute the toll.
