Renew your NSW driver and/or rider licence online

Renew with a photo-kit form

You can complete a photo-kit form and send it by post to renew your licence if:

  • you are not eligible to renew your licence online or
  • you cannot renew your licence online.

Photo-kit renewal limits

There are limits that apply to renewing with the photo-kit form.

  • If you hold a full licence, you can only use a photo-kit form for renewal once.
  • If you're a provisional licence holder, you're limited to 2 photo-kit renewal forms.

To renew your licence after you reach your limit you must visit a Service NSW Centre.

If you are living interstate

Convert your NSW driver/rider licence to your current Australian state or territory if you are living there for 3 months or more continuously.

Under the national no-fee transfer system there is no fee to convert your current unrestricted or provisional licence from one state or territory to another. Your new licence will be issued with the remaining valid period if your NSW licence has not expired.

If you are living overseas

If you have taken up residence in another country, apply for a driver/rider licence in that country.

Eligibility

You can only use a photo-kit form to renew your licence if:

  • you have a:
    • full licence and have never used the form for renewal
    • provisional licence and have used the form for renewal only once before
  • you are living interstate or overseas temporarily
  • your licence is:
    • expiring within 6 months or expired less than 5 years ago
    • not a temporary paper licence
    • not suspended or cancelled.
