Introduction

Couples who are in a relationship, but not married, can apply to register a relationship with NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

You or the other adult can withdraw the application, however, you will need to do this within 28 days of applying.

Fees

There is no fee to withdraw an application. 

Note: the original application fee is non-refundable. 

How to withdraw an application

In person

  1. Bring your original proof of identity documents.
  2. Visit a service centre and submit your withdraw a relationship registration application form.

By post

  1. Make copies of your proof of identity documents.
  2. Post your application form and proof of identity copies to the address on the form.
    Note: do not send original documents.
