Driver Test Booking
You must book for a Driving Test. There are 3 ways you can make a booking. You can,
- call 13 77 88
- visit a Service Centre
- book online.
Bring a roadworthy vehicle
Bring a vehicle that is roadworthy and safe to drive.
Your booking slip tells you what to check.
Filling in the form
Before your Driving Test, you need to fill in a form.
The form is about asking to have a licence.
You can:
- get an application form from a Service Centre, or
- download a PDF form from the Service NSW website.
Learner Driver Log Book
If you needed to log your hours, you have recorded them in the Roundtrip app or the signed Learner Driver Log Book.
You will need to bring your phone or Log Book with you.
Proving who you are
To sit your Driving Test, you will need to prove who you are.

Overseas and interstate licence holders
If your licence is from another state or another country, bring it with you.
If your licence is from another country, check what extra proof you will need.
Bringing another driver with you
If you do not pass your Driving Test, you cannot drive home on your own.
You will need someone with a full licence to drive you to your home.
What you need to bring
You need to bring your Licence Application form, Learner Driver Log Book (if you have one) and proof of who you are.
If you have a Pensioner Concession Card, bring that too.
Arriving at the Service Centre
Get to the Service Centre 15 minutes early.
This will give you time to park in the right place for your test.
When you have parked, go inside and have your papers checked.
Checking in for your Driving Test
A team member will check you in and tell you where to wait.
If you need more help, talk to a team member.
Meeting your Driver Tester
Your Driver Tester will be wearing a yellow high-visibility vest.
They will come and meet you before your Driving Test.
Going on your test
Your Driver Tester will walk with you to your car.
They will check that your car is roadworthy and safe to drive before you start the test.
On your Driving Test
During your test, the Driver Tester will tell you where you will need to drive and park.
After your Driving Test
When you finish your test, your Driver Tester will check your results.
They will let you know if you passed or did not pass.
Results
If you pass the test, the Driver Tester will tell you what to do next.
If you do not pass, you can ask your Driver Tester to help book another test.
Ticket
You may need a ticket to see a team member.
The ticket has a number.
When your number is called, it is your turn.
If it is busy, you may need to wait.
Waiting to be served
You can sit and wait for your turn.
If it is busy, some people may need to stand.
If you need a seat, ask a team member for help.
Your turn
When it is your turn, look for your number or listen for your name.
If you miss your turn or need help, ask a team member.
Being served
Give the team member your form and proof of who you are.
If you have a Pensioner Concession Card, give it to them.
If you have a licence from another state or country, give that too.
Paying for your driver licence
You can pay for your licence at the counter using your bank card.
If you have a Pensioner Concession Card, your licence will be free.
Taking your photo
The team member may ask you to take a seat to have your photo taken.
Getting a paper licence
The team member will give you a short-term paper licence until you get your card in the mail.
Before you go
If you need āPā plates, ask a team member before you leave.
On your way out
Our Service NSW teams love getting feedback.
It helps us get better at helping people.
If you want to, you can choose to give feedback using the touchscreen.
Receiving your driver licence
Your licence card will be mailed to your address within 3 weeks.
