Training
- Fee-free apprenticeships
Under the fee-free apprenticeship initiative, employees and apprentices pay no upfront fees. Available to NSW apprentices, including NSW school-based apprentices whose training commences before 30 June 2027.
Rebates
- Apply for an apprentice vehicle registration rebate
If you're a first or second year apprentice registered with the NSW Department of Education, you can apply for a registration rebate to help you with the costs of registering your vehicle.
Assistance and support
- Financial support for apprentices
You may be eligible for an incentive to help you to complete your apprenticeship and offset the cost of living when you train in a priority occupation. - Apply for the VTAS travel and accommodation allowance
Financial assistance for apprentices and new entrant trainees who travel more than (110km) round trip for day or block release training. - Register with Continuing Apprentices and Trainees Placement Service (CAPS)
If you're an apprentice or trainee and have lost your job, register with Continuing Apprentices and Trainees Placement Service (CAPS) as soon as you can. - Apply for CAPS relocation and rental assistance
Financial assistance for unemployed apprentices who've found a new employer in NSW but need to relocate more than 60kms in order to continue the apprenticeship.
