What gets changed

When you add or change your mobile number, we'll update the mobile number:

If you use other NSW Government services, you’ll need to change your mobile number for the other services separately.

When to call or visit us

You'll need to call us on 13 77 88 or go to a service centre if:

  • your mobile phone or device is lost or stolen, or

  • you cannot access the Australian mobile number on your MyServiceNSW Account and cannot log in using another method of MFA (that is, the Service NSW app or an authenticator app).

When you can do it yourself online

You can add or change your mobile number if you can still:  

  • access your old mobile number and log in using code from the text message (SMS) for MFA, or

  • log in using the Service NSW app or the authenticator app for MFA. 

How to add or change your mobile number online

Option A: Using the Service NSW app

  1. Log in to the Service NSW app.
  2. Select the profile or 'person' icon.
  3. Select 'Personal details'.
  4. Select 'Australian mobile number'.
  5. Respond to the 'Authentication request' in the Service NSW app by selecting 'Yes, it was me'.
    1. Alternatively, you may be able to select ‘Try another method’ and enter a code sent via text message (SMS) or enter a code generated via an authenticator app.
  6. Enter your new Australian mobile number and follow any other prompts. Then select 'Continue'. 

Option B: Using the MyServiceNSW Account

  1. Log in to your MyServiceNSW Account.
    • If you cannot access your old mobile number AND cannot log in using the Service NSW or an authenticator app, call us on 13 77 88 or go to a service centre. If you're overseas, call +61 2 8894 1555.
  2. Go to 'Manage account'.
  3. Go to 'Personal details'.
  4. Select 'Update' next to 'Australian mobile number'.
  5. Enter a code sent via text message (SMS) to your old mobile number. Then select ‘Continue’.
    1. Alternatively, you may be able to select ‘Try another method’ and respond to a notification, or enter a code generated via an authenticator app. Then select ‘Continue’.
  6. Enter your new Australian mobile number and follow any other prompts. Then select 'Continue'.

How to delete your mobile number online

If you delete your mobile number, you will not:

  • receive opted-in mobile notifications
  • pre-fill your mobile number on application forms
  • log in using code from the text message (SMS) for MFA.

Option A: Using the Service NSW app

  1. Log in to the Service NSW app.
  2. Select the profile or 'person' icon.
  3. Select 'Personal details'.
  4. Select 'Australian mobile number'.
  5. Select 'Delete' next to 'Current mobile number'.
  6. Select 'Yes, delete' when asked 'Are you sure you want to delete your current mobile number?'
  7. We recommend that you set up and use the Service NSW app or an authenticator app for MFA. This will keep your account secure. 

Option B: Using the MyServiceNSW Account

  1. Log in to your MyServiceNSW Account.
    • If you cannot access your old mobile number AND cannot log in using the Service NSW or an authenticator app, call us on 13 77 88 or go to a service centre. If you're overseas, call +61 2 8894 1555.
  2. Go to 'Manage account'.
  3. Go to 'Personal details'.
  4. Select 'Update' next to 'Australian mobile number'.
  5. Enter a code sent via text message (SMS) to your old mobile number. Then select ‘Continue’.

  6. Select 'Delete' next to 'Current mobile number'.
  7. Select 'Yes, delete' when asked 'Are you sure you want to delete your current mobile number?'
  8. We recommend that you set up and use the Service NSW app or an authenticator app for MFA. This will keep your account secure.
