You can book the following Driving and Riding tests online:

  • Driver Knowledge Test
  • Driving Test
  • Hazard Perception Test
  • Driver Qualification Test
  • Rider Training/Testing

You'll need to be an existing customer of Roads and Maritime Services to make an online booking, unless the booking is for the Driver Knowledge Test.

Each of these tests have different requirements, so please check the eligibility requirements before booking. 

Currently, there are many unallocated slots for Driving Tests across our network. Please check your preferred and other locations online, or call 13 77 88 for availability in your area.

  • an online account with Online Services (if you have one), and
  • your Driver's Licence number, Photo Card or​ Roads and Maritime Services customer number (for all bookings except the Driver Knowledge Test).
Book online
  1. Click the 'Book online' button.
  2. Select 'existing Roads and Maritime Services customer' or 'First time customer' or 'Log in'.
  3. Enter your details and click 'Continue'.
  4. Choose a test.
  5. Choose location.
  6. Choose a date and time.
  7. Enter payment details.
  8. Confirm and pay.
  9. View, print or email your confirmation.
Book online
  • you are only eligible to sit a Driver's Licence test after you have completed all the requirements, and the requirements are specific to the test you choose

Please contact a service centre to book the following tests:

  • aged, deaf and disabled driving and riding tests
  • instructor and instructor taking impart knowledge test
  • short manual driving test
  • motorcycle tests in non-declared areas, and
  • interpreter-assisted tests.

Book online

If you fail your driving test, the examiner will explain to you the areas that caused the failure. Take note of these areas, and any skills that need improving so that you can retake the test when you feel ready. 

You can take the test as many times as you like, but you must pay each time and you must allow 7 days between tests.

Service NSW and Roads and Maritime Services are aware of a Third Party website offering to book licence tests online. In addition to the fee charged by Roads and Maritime Services, this site charges additional fees to book a test. Customers should note that Roads and Maritime Services and Service NSW do not have any connection with other websites or services and are limited in the assistance that can be provided if customers experience difficulties booking through Third Party websites. If you would like to book a Driver or Licence test we recommend that you use the online test booking service provided by online services.

Payment methods

For online or phone transactions, you can pay with:

  • credit or debit card (MasterCard, Visa, or American Express).

For transactions in person at a service centre, you can pay with:

  • cash (in Australian currency)
  • cheque (personal, bank or agency drawn)
  • money order
  • credit or debit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express* or EFTPOS), or
  • Android Pay app.

Please note that you may need to pay a merchant fee when paying by credit or debit card.

* Unfortunately, some locations may not accept American Express.
