Introduction
The Australian Government has announced that all NSW households are eligible for up to $150 to help with the cost of their electricity bills in the 2025-26 financial year.
Most households will receive their Bill Relief payment automatically from their electricity provider in two quarterly instalments of $75 on their electricity bill from 31 July 2025 and 1 October 2025.
For households in embedded networks only
If your household is in an embedded network (such as a caravan park, residential community, retirement village or apartment building) you may need to apply for the Bill Relief payment.
If your household is in an embedded network and has applied for and received one of the NSW electricity rebates listed below for the 2024 – 25 financial year, you do not need to apply for the Bill Relief payment. You will be automatically assessed for and receive the Bill Relief payment.
- NSW Low Income Household Rebate
- NSW Family Energy Rebate
- NSW Medical Energy Rebate
- NSW Life Support Rebate
Seniors Energy Rebate
If you're eligible, apply for the Seniors Energy Rebate, and you will also need to apply separately for your Bill Relief payment.
If you're not eligible for energy rebates
If your household is in an embedded network such as a caravan park, residential community, retirement village or apartment building, and you are not eligible for electricity rebates, you may need to apply for your Bill Relief payment.
Some households in embedded networks will receive their Bill Relief payment directly from their energy provider. These households do not need to apply for their Bill Relief payment. From 1 July 2025, the following energy providers will deliver Bill Relief payments to households in embedded networks:
