Names must match
If the names on your identity documents do not match because of marriage, separation or divorce, you can still create a NSW Digital ID. You'll just need to provide your Australian marriage certificate.
If you've changed your name for other reasons, you'll need to change your name on your identity documents. You'll need to do this before you create your NSW Digital ID.
How to update your name on your NSW Digital ID
Option A: Using the MyServiceNSW Account
You'll need to deactivate the NSW Digital ID in your old name.
- Log in to your MyServiceNSW Account
- Go to ‘Manage account’.
- Go to ‘Security and settings’
- Go to ‘Manage NSW Digital ID’.
- Select 'Deactivate' and follow the instructions to remove your NSW Digital ID.
You'll need to create a NSW Digital ID with identity documents in your new name.
- Go to ‘Manage NSW Digital ID’.
- Go to ‘Settings and security’.
- Select ‘Create NSW Digital ID’. Follow the instructions to verify your identity with documents in your new name.
Option B: Using the Service NSW app
The NSW DIgital ID is currently in pilot phase. It is not possible to access or manage your NSW Digital ID in the Service NSW app.
