Renew a recreational fishing licence

Introduction

When fishing in NSW waters, both freshwater and saltwater, you're legally required to pay a recreational fishing fee and carry the receipt showing payment. You can renew your 1-year or 3-year recreational fishing licence online.

What you need

your licence number
renewal number (as shown on your renewal notice)
your fee payment.

Note: Not everyone has to pay a fee for a licence – check if you are eligible for an exemption.

How to renew

Online

Select the 'Renew online' button.
Complete the online form.

By phone

You can get a recreational fishing licence (using Visa or Mastercard only) by calling 1300 369 365.

Add a digital licence

If you wish you can add your recreational fishing licence to:

your MyServiceNSW Account
the Service NSW app.

More information

If you renew before your expiry date, your renewal begins from the date your current licence expires (not from the date of payment).
