COVID-19 update

If your card was due to expire after 1 March 2020 and you had not already renewed the card by 29 May 2020, the NSW Government has extended the expiry date to 30 June 2021. The existing card remains valid until 30 June 2021, despite the date on the physical card. Standard renewals have now resumed so to continue working you should renew your card as soon as possible The digital version of the card shows your new expiry date. Cards expiring from 1 July 2021 are unaffected. See COVID-19 FAQs for the liquor and gaming industries.

Introduction

When it's time to renew your Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and/or Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) competency card, you'll receive a reminder notice by email or SMS approximately 3 months before your card is due to expire.

As part of the renewal process, you need refresher training, which you can do online. When you've completed the training and paid the renewal fee, your new card will be valid for a further 5 years.

RSA and RCG competency cards are available as digital licences. You can view, show, update and renew your competency card via the Service NSW mobile app. To find out more about digital licences, see Get started with digital licences.

If you complete an RCG course on 15 January 2020, both RSA and RCG competencies will expire on 31 December 2023.
