A Service NSW Aboriginal Hub Day is being rolled out in selected towns for one day in November and early December to ensure increased support for Aboriginal people in locations where the dedicated Mobile Service Centre “Kangaroo Bus” does not reach.

Service NSW team members will provide customers with a range of information such as how to apply for a driver licence or Seniors Card, where to find savings and rebates to reduce the cost of living, and how to access to online government services.

Other government agencies will be available at certain locations depending on demand to provide further specialised assistance.

Dates and locations of the upcoming dedicated Hub Days are as follows:

Walgett

  • Thursday 21 November, 77 Fox St, Walgett

Gilgandra

  • Tuesday 26 November, 15 Warren Rd, Gilgandra

Condobolin

  • Wednesday 27 November, 18 William St, Condobolin

Coonamble

  • Friday 6 December, McDonald Park, Aberford St, Coonamble

The hub days will operate for approximately three hours in each of the locations.

The Service NSW Aboriginal Hub Days are in addition to the Kangaroo Bus that already visits more than 40 locations as part of a regular 10-week loop to support Aboriginal communities.

Hub Days have already been held in Ashmont, Quirindi, Kempsey and Coonabarabran.

Quotes attributable to Service NSW Managing Director Greg Wells:

“It’s vital that Aboriginal communities across NSW, no matter how remote they are, have the tools and knowledge they need to access government services and transactions to help with their everyday lives.”

“Whether it’s understanding how to obtain a photo identification, apply for a Birth Certificate or receive advice on how to start a business, the Hub Days are a continued commitment to ensuring services are inclusive and accessible.”

“These information days are an important way for people to gain the confidence they need to complete critical government transactions which are helping improve their quality of life.”

"We are looking forward to Aboriginal Hub Days across the State which will focus on the specific needs of each community and provide support in culturally safe and respectful ways.”
